UCLA here we come.
We are leaving in the morning to go to Cali. We will be meeting with the surgeon and having a tour of the hospital. Its going to be a quick trip because we need to be back for Keanna's dance competition. (Which by the way is at Dixie High on Friday and Saturday if anyone would like to come and watch.)
So far in just talking with the surgeons assistant we are impressed with them. Ray went on a virtual tour of the hospital and said it looks really nice. Our main concern is that Ashton gets the very best care. We will find out all about it tomorrow.

Undies..... :)

So my computer is being so stupid tonight. It's all wacked out. So who knows what this post is going to turn out to be like. lol
So the undies we are talking about are foot undies. Keanna wears them to dance in. And they are not cheap. She has competition this weekend, Friday and Saturday. Friday is her solo and Saturday is team competition. This will be her first time competing in solos. I get so nervous for her. She has come a long way though since she has been with this dance company. I'm hoping to be able to take some video that we can post. In the meantime she has her cute little foot undies.

News
We heard from the cardiologist tonight. He is such a nice guy. He called from his home on his own time.
Anyway, he talked to the surgeon at UCLA and he thinks he should be able to do the surgery we are hoping for. There is a concern about some veins so some more images from a previous cath are being sent to him.
The cardiologist reminded me that this surgeon is an elite surgeon. Basically famous. It doesn't make it any less scarey though. We don't have any dates or anything. Just a number to contact the office at UCLA and start talking with them.

Happy Birthay!
Happy Birthday dad. Oh how we miss you. We use to make you some peanut butter cookies and come to celebrate with you. Mom would let you have one or two cookies a day. She was so good to watch your diet because of your diabetese. We just might have to make a batch in celebration of you.
So often there are things that remind us of you. Which is hard but also good. Everywhere we turn we have memories of you. Last week when we were with mom both her and ray said I do a lot of things that remind them of you. I'm proud of that because you were a great man and I hope to be even half that great.

The Waiting Game Continues.....
As most of you have heard, the waiting game continues. The surgeon reviewed the MRI and didn't think there is room on the right ventricle to put the conduit. He admitted he has only been practicing for 3 years and said another surgeon with more experience under his belt might be able to do it. Even though this was not the news we wanted to hear we are thankful he admitted to it and didn't just go in and try it. So now the cardiologist is contacting some surgeons in other states to see if they will review all the tests and give us their opinion. So for now we keep Ashton hydrated and wait for a call again.
In the meantime we have brought the trailer to moms house, where we have been trying to get it for a year now. We are so thankful to Matts brother for letting us borrow his truck so we could take the trailer. The problem with coming to moms is we totally let down while we are here and don't want to go home to reality. So, we decided to stay. Ray has been getting a lot of little things done around the house and yard that have needed to get done. And of course mom spoils us with yummy dinners and Rick always has to tease me a little bit. What are big brothers for, right?

MRI is finished
He is all done with the MRI. It went well. We haven't heard any results from what they saw. There is still some confusion about the surgery tomorrow. Its such a joke. Can't these people communicate with each other??? We have had really good nurses and the anethesiologist was great also. Ashton gets so nervous and they were very patient and kind to him.
waiting....
Here we are just waiting to be taken back for the MRI. We were able to go out for icecream last night with Ryan and his girls yummm. Then we had a good nights sleep in the trailer.

Bump in the Road
We've been thrown a bump in the road. The surgeon and cardiologist are not agreeing as to which surgery to perform on Ashton. We are agreeing with the cardiologist. We are heading up north to still have the MRI on wed and after reviewing the results of it the surgeon may change his mind. If not we will be going else where to have it done. So as of right now we are just hanging in limbo to see what we are doing for sure.

One Week Away
Wow, its almost here. Ashtons surgery is a week from today. We are havingg a fast for him on Sunday for anyone who would like to join with us.
From I think its 7 to 8 we have to go out of ICU for shift change so that is usually a good time to visit. The best way to communicate will be through the blog or email. There's not great cell service in the hospital. We will still check messages and texts when we can though.
We want to thank everyone for all your support. We really appreciate it.
